Combining two of the most popular and useful COBIT courses into one comprehensive educational event, the Edinburgh Training Week will offer a new and unique course titled COBIT: Strategies for Implementing IT Governance. Hosted by ISACA, an association of more than 75,000 IT governance, security and assurance professionals, Training Week will be held 15-19 September 2008 at the Caledonian Hilton in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT) is an IT process framework for business and IT executives and management. The COBIT course will introduce attendees to the fundamentals of IT governance, control and risk management, and will explain how to implement IT governance using COBIT and Val IT. “Today, good governance is essential to an enterprise’s success,” said Lynn Lawton, CISA, FBCS CITP, FCA, FIIA, PIIA, international president of ISACA. “Studies have shown that the majority of stakeholders are willing to pay a premium to invest in companies that are shown to have good governance. The new COBIT course will help professionals understand how to achieve effective governance and maximize value as a result.” The Edinburgh Training Week will offer two additional in-depth courses designed for IT audit, security and governance professionals of all levels: · Fundamentals of IT Auditing—Aligned with the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) job practice areas, this course will discuss controls and control objectives through a combination of lecture, interaction and exercises. · Information Security Management—This course focuses on the five Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) job practice areas: information security governance, risk management, information security program development, information security management and response management. Instructors at the Edinburgh event include Craig McGuffin, CISA, CISM,principal of C.R. McGuffin Consulting Services; John Tannahill, CISM, a management consultant specializing in information security and audit services; and Don Caniglia, CISA, CISM, audit consultant with Campbell & Associates. The registration fee is US $2,595 for ISACA members and US $2,795 for nonmembers. ISACA members who register on or before 9 July will receive the early-bird rate, US $2,395.
