Wessex Section

The Coulton Award

The Wessex Section of the Institution of Measurement and Control is responsible for the professional activities of the Institute within the counties of Dorset and Hampshire, as well as areas covered by post codes SP and the southern part of RG.

As part of the Section's educational activities, it administers an annual competitive award.

The Award

Generously sponsored by coulton Instrumentation Ltd, the Award consists of a bronze medal (The Coulton Medal) and a cheque of £200, and is for demonstrable achievement in the field of measurement and control, usually in the form of a project report.  In such cases no additional written work is required from candidates.

Eligibility

Applicants will normally be expected to be enrolled on courses at schools, colleges or universities in the Wessex Area.  However, other forms of professional development will be considered.

Assessment Panel

Entries will be judged by an Assessment Panel appointed by the wessex Section Committee.

Application Procedure

Each applicant should send a 300-500 word summary of his/her work via his/her supervisor to the Assessment Panel, from which a short-list of finalists will be invited to submit full copies of their reports.  After the winner for the academic year has been selected, project documents will be returned to authors.
