Companion Company Scheme PDF Print E-mail

ImageThe Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC) is the only professional body in the UK automation sector dedicated to the science and application of measurement and control. It is also a compact organisation where all grades of membership work closely together both centrally and throughout a comprehensive UK network of Local Sections to achieve common goals. Young engineers and technicians starting out in their careers rub shoulders with senior personnel in manufacturing, marketing and end-user enterprises, as well as enjoying easy access to internationally renowned researchers working in universities and global conglomerates.

As stated in its Royal Charter granted in 1975, the Institute’s overriding objective is:

“To promote for the public benefit…….the general advancement of the science and practice of measurement and control technology and its application.”

In pursuance of this objective, the InstMC has become established as a front-runner in furthering the industry’s interests. The following are but a few examples.

Measurement and Control is one of the UK’s most successful industries where professional standards and R&D innovation form the backbone.

The Institute sets professional standards and has significant influence over Government research policy and priorities.

… Accredited education, training and re-training are the corner stones for continuing development in the ever-changing technologies of measurement and control.
• The Institute furthers education, training and retraining and accredits courses at all levels.

…Gaining access to authoritative information which may influence your business operation can be difficult and time-consuming.
• The Institute is a vital communicator of scientific and market information.

…When industry issues are likely to affect your operation it is important to have a powerful ‘voice’ speaking on your behalf.
The Institute is a formidable representative on industry issues, in its own right and through its membership of powerful international bodies.

…A successful business looking to secure its future needs constantly to attract, support and retain young talent.
The Institute is the first rung on the career ladder for aspiring Chartered Instrumentation ad Control engineers.

In these and many other areas, the Institute is a major force whose views are highly valued by industry, purchasers and regulatory authorities. An InstMC Companion Company is a better informed company and one which is better placed to gain that all-important competitive edge.

“Join with us as a Companion Company and take a cost-effective opportunity to extend your input and influence in the marketplace and to gain access to technical help and advice on Standards, Directives and Regulations.”
